About me and my therapy practice
Are you or someone you love finding life difficult at the moment? Are you feeling overwhelming emotions, anxiety or low moods? Are you struggling with life transitions or a feeling of stuckness? I offer a friendly, supportive, non-judgemental, safe space for adults and young people (11+) to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Talking through issues that you are finding difficult to cope with or uncomfortable can help unburden you, increase your self-awareness, make you feel less alone and gain a new perspective, all of which can help empower you to make healthier choices.
I understand that making that first move towards finding a counsellor can be a daunting and scary experience and I know that it is extremely important to find a therapist that feels right for you. So please feel free to call for an initial chat, we can discuss what you are looking for and what you could expect from working with me so that we can both ensure that I would be the most suitable counsellor for you.
My previous experience includes being a counsellor at a local secondary school, one-to-one and group counsellor at an adult mental health charity, and a young person’s counsellor for a mental health charity. I’m a registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists), Accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS).
I work as an Integrative Counsellor which means that I combine skills and tools from different theoretical approaches in order to provide you with personalised therapeutic support to help you express, explore, understand and work through issues. As well as using talking therapies such as CBT, person centred therapy, gestalt work and transactional analysis I can also offer creative approaches such as art, creative writing, play, visualisation, sand trays and mindfulness.
I have worked alongside a wide range of clients from age 11-80 covering a huge variety of mental health issues from anxiety, depression, bullying and self-harm to bereavement, trauma and historic sexual abuse within both short and longer-term therapy.
I offer online, telephone and face to face counselling and I am happy to discuss the options with you.
My first session
The first session will include a bit of an admin and questions and answers, but it will give us both a chance to see if we can feel comfortable to begin working together. There may also be an element of getting comfortable with the technology used. Nerves are perfectly ok and are part of the process but hopefully by the end of the session the idea of talking therapy will feel a little less daunting.
