As my working hours vary I am able to respond more quickly to an email or by completing the contact page. If you feel comfortable leaving your details I will get back to you at the earliest opportunity. If possible letting me know when is best and how you would like to be contacted.
About me and my therapy practice
All sessions are either via video link (zoom), telephone or email. Contact me for more information to decide which method would best suit you.
The approach that I offer is one that is explorative and supportive of you in the ‘driving seat’.
Video counselling is a way to see me from your computer, laptop or smart phone, whilst engaging in therapy.
Telephone counselling is similar but takes place over the phone and without the use of a camera.
Email counselling is a way to share your thoughts and feelings through the written word. The counsellor reads and reflects upon your words and sends a reply on an agreed day and time, usually 48 hours later.
Things to consider prior to embarking on the counselling journey;
1. The right time-are you able to commit to regular sessions. Is it the right time to share your challenges or worries.
2. The right place-remote (video/telephone/email) or face to face (not currently offered).
3. Knowledge of what it is you would like to discuss and an idea of what you would like to achieve.
4. The right way-a directive or an explorative approach.
I have experience of working with a range of mental health difficulties. A particular interest of mine is working with experiences of anxiety. When anxiety is experienced intensely for prolonged periods of time it can feel as if you will never be able to live a ‘normal’ life again. This is untrue, experiences of anxiety can be managed. It may take some time and exploration but it can be achieved.
I have a personal and professional interest in how animals can provide us with mental health support. I currently have two miniature dachshund dogs who are in training to become visiting therapy dogs within the Bridgend and surrounding area. Research is ever emerging to provide us with the evidence that being around animals has a beneficial effect on both our mental and physical health. Please ask me about this. I support the presence of animals, where possible, to be in the therapy space with you.
Practice description
Trust is a big part of allowing you to explore your inner most thoughts and feelings which is why the pace of the sessions is determined by you. It is important that you feel safe and supported if therapy is to allow you to achieve your wishes or goals in life.
Counselling can be a life changing experience when conducted at the appropriate time, for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and maybe fears. It is also important to find the right counsellor to go through that experience with you.
I am currently offering video, telephone and email counselling and various times are available to suit needs. Contact me for more information to decide which method would suit you best. The sessions are 1 hour and are payable at £50.00 per session (concessions for students of counselling). If you think my approach would suit what you require from a therapist, please feel free to get in touch for an informal chat before making the decision to seek counselling.
My first session
In the first session we will discuss your expectations and requirements for counselling. It is also a time to share any worries or concerns that you have in regards to what therapy is. We will also discuss certain elements that are required from both you and myself to create a safe and effective working relationship. This is to ensure that I am able to provide the best service to you.
