About me and my therapy practice
I bring warmth, energy, sensitivity and frankness to my client relationships. I won’t give you advice or tell you what to do as I believe you are the expert on yourself and I am there to facilitate, working through what might be difficult and distressing issues.
As a Humanistic counsellor I value your autonomy. I will listen carefully and offer gentle challenge if needed, supporting you as you discover your own conclusions.
Counselling is different for every client and grows into something unique as the relationship develops. It is this relationship, based on trust which provides the right conditions for change.
I am also trained as an executive coach and career counsellor. I have 30 years’ corporate experience, gained from working for a wide range of companies, including an HR consultancy, a business school, a test and assessment publisher and a large retailer.
I have always had an active involvement and interest in working voluntarily and on governing bodies, with students and educational establishments.
My qualifications and experience:
BSc (Hons) Humanistic Counselling (Metanoia Institute and Middlesex University)
Certificate in Adlerian Counselling (ASIIP)
Coach Trained ( Institute of Leadership & Management, Penna Plc)
Certified NLP Practitioner
Diploma in Management (Henley Business School)
BEd (Hons) Teaching ( Northumbria University)
I am committed to my continuing professional development, regularly attending workshops, conferences and short courses.
Practice description
I provide counselling for a wide variety of life experiences and concerns, offering both short-term issue focused counselling as well as longer term open-ended counselling. The number of sessions will depend on you and your needs. My first session
I offer an initial 30 minute session free of charge. An opportunity for us to discuss what brings you to counselling, what you would like to get out of the sessions, and whether it feels right for us to work together.
The relationship between you and your counsellor is at the very heart of successful counselling, so it is important that you choose someone who is right for you and who you feel able to relate to and engage with.
You may wish to explore an experience more deeply, you may be in crisis, or you may have feelings of low self-esteem, depression or anxiety. Before you choose to work with a counsellor you may have many questions about how counselling can help you and your situation.
