About me and my therapy practice
I trained and identify as a pluralistic counsellor. Pluralistic counsellors believe that there is no "right" or "best" therapeutic approach. There is no one cause or way to understand distress and as such there is no one right method of treatment. Each individual brings their own unique understanding of their problems, experiences and ideas of what is useful. You are the expert on yourself. I as the therapist have the role of helping you create greater awareness of yourself and your problem to allow for the possibility of change.
I see counselling as a dynamic and collaborative process. I tailor my approach to your needs through conversations, shared decision making and reflecting together on ways to meet your goals.
I use a range of therapeutic methods including: CBT, humanistic, solution-focused, and person-centred.
EXPERIENCE AND INTERESTS
Since I qualified I have been working in the therapeutic field. As a counsellor and therapist I have worked in numerous settings including charities, the NHS and higher education.
I have worked with a range of issues including but not limited to: stress, trauma and abuse, anxiety, panic, depression, OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity crisis, bereavement, addiction, dissatisfaction with life or feeling stuck, decision making, and long term conditions and illness.
I have an interest in working with those with ADHD, who struggle to manage their ADHD symptoms. I have undergone specific training and research in ADHD and therapeutic methods to engender positive change for those with ADHD. I am always keen to work with individuals who wish to explore ways of managing their ADHD symptoms and find acceptance of their self.
