About me and my therapy practice
If you are finding life difficult, experiencing mental or emotional distress, or finding relationships problematic, then counselling can provide an invaluable space to explore these difficulties, come to greater clarity and find a way through.
It might be that you are feeling dissatisfied with life or have lost your sense of direction and purpose. In counselling we can work together to discover new perspectives and possibilities.
I have more than 25yrs experience of working as a counsellor, with both individuals and couples. I also supervise other counsellors.
My down-to-earth yet professional approach can help clients to feel able to begin exploring their difficulties and move to a place of greater clarity. Counselling has been of great benefit to me in my own life in that it has helped me to grow in confidence and self-belief, as well improving my relationships with others.
The person-centred approach to counselling is powerful because it gives us the opportunity to be heard and to explore our difficulties in a safe and non-judgemental space, creating the conditions for us to contact our inner resources and come to a greater understanding of our situation. This can enable us to grow towards a more satisfying way of living and being.
In addition to working in my private counselling practice since 2008, I have gained my counselling experience working in an addiction treatment centre, for Rape Crisis, Victim Support, within a university counselling service and for NHS as staff counsellor.
I work on-line and also face-to-face at my counselling practice on Rodney St in Liverpool.
I am an accredited member of the BACP, and as such I am guided by and work within their ethical framework.

About me and my therapy practice
My style of supervision is based fundamentally on a relational and process-centred approach. My primary aim is to create with the supervisee a relationship which is based on trust and respect, and which is holding, supportive and developmental. Within this we will take a 3-pronged approach to supervision which incorporates care for the supervisee's personal wellbeing, exploration of client-work, and a focus on ongoing professional development (which includes looking at theory as it is applied practice, and any other practice issues arising).
My first session
I meet with prospective supervisees for an initial free half hour to discuss their requirements and to see if what I offer matches this, and ultimately to get a sense of whether we'd like to work together.
