About me and my therapy practice

Hi,

I'm Kat and I am a person centred therapist. Thank you for looking at my profile.

Life can be difficult to deal with and perhaps you are currently experiencing a tough time or are struggling to deal with a particular issue. We all struggle at times and there is no shame in that or in asking for help.

Sadly it is often the case that in our every day lives, we don't have the opportunity or take the time to look after ourselves or to reflect on what is going on for us and how we are feeling.

Therapy can offer a safe and non judgmental space to do just that as well as being listened to and heard. It is a place in which I will enable you to express and explore your feelings and emotions and how to process them in a more positive and healthy way.

Whilst I don't have all the answers, I do hope that we can gain insights that will help you to move forwards in a way that is right for you, as well as gaining a better understanding of yourself and whatever is going on for you.

I am registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practice within the guidelines of the Ethical Framework. I have previously worked with clients in the charity sector and within NHS settings.

Things I can help with include loss and bereavement, including pet bereavement, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and confidence issues, experience of childhood abuse, relationship difficulties, stress and burnout and adjustment to major life events or changes.

Don't worry if what you're dealing with is not listed above. You are more than welcome to get in touch and we can discuss your needs and whether I'm the right therapist for you.

I am a friendly and approachable person and I am passionate about therapy and the benefits and healing that it can offer.

Practice description

You might want to know a little bit more about my therapeutic approach. Person centred therapy is fairly unstructured and in essence whatever you want to talk about is what we will be focusing on.

I will encourage you to express and explore your feelings and together we will explore what is going on for you and the impact this is having on you, your life and your wellbeing.

We will talk about what is important to you and together we will explore what might help you or what you might like to change. Sometimes this might mean exploring healthier and new ways of looking at or doing things or it might mean acknowledging and processing your feelings.

Rest assured, I am not here to give you advice or to tell you how to live your life.

We will go at your pace and we will review our work together frequently to make sure that it continues to meet your needs.

I will provide you with a safe and empathic, therapeutic space in which you can talk freely without fear of being judged.

I also offer Pet Bereavement Counselling and Counselling for Depression. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about these therapy options or check out my website, www.katunverricht.co.uk

I offer face to face, telephone or video sessions.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and please get in touch if you have any further questions or would like to book an appointment.

My first session

In your first session, we will take some time to go through the Counselling Agreement which outlines the terms and conditions of our work together and contains information for you to be aware of. If you wish to have a look at this beforehand, please let me know and I can provide you with a copy.

We will take time to explore what brings you to Counselling and what you would like to get out of the sessions.

We will explore any questions or concerns that you might have.

At the end of the session, we will review your thoughts and feelings and decide whether you feel that I am the right therapist for you.

Please don't worry if that is not the case, I won't be offended. It is important that you feel safe and able to talk to your therapist and depending on what you would like to work on, I might be able to recommend alternative therapists for you to contact.
