About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred, BACP registered and accredited counsellor and clinical supervisor, based in St. Ann’s Square in Manchester. Although I am predominantly from a person-centred background, I have acquired a more integrative approach to working with my clients to cater for their needs the best I can. I appreciate that sometimes clients want some form of direction and guidance. Each of us is unique so I tailor my approach to your specific needs and offer techniques from different therapeutic models to benefit you if required (CBT, Somatic, Experiential Counselling for Depression, Solution Focused, Attachment). I've got a wealth of experience working within the private, NHS and EAP sector.
HOW I CAN HELP YOU THROUGH COUNSELLING
My approach to therapy will offer you a non-judgemental space where I help you get a deeper understanding of yourself in the ‘here and now’. This way we can explore any past or current experiences you feel may be holding you back, help you acknowledge and make sense of them in order for you to move forward. I will help you achieve growth by accessing your emotions and feelings as the answers often lie beyond our cognitions. I also work to create a stabilising environment for clients with trauma-based life experiences.
I believe learning to recognise and understand feelings, emotions and thought processes can help identify unhealthy patterns for managing distress. This is the key to gaining new perspectives and finding more effective ways of living a more balanced life - emotionally, psychologically, socially, and physically.
IN-PERSON AND ONLINE/TELEPHONE THERAPY SESSIONS
I offer 1 to 1, face-to-face and online/telephone sessions for adults. My counselling practice is based in the heart of Manchester, located in St. Ann's Square which is easily accessible by public transport or car. All counselling rooms are very spacious, private and decorated neutrally for your ultimate comfort when you visit for your sessions.
I offer both, open-ended and and short-term therapeutic interventions to suit your needs.
DIFFICULTIES I CAN HELP WITH
I work with clients presenting with a range of mental health difficulties from moderate to severe anxiety and depression that may stem from work-related stress, multiple trauma, loss, suicidal ideation, abuse, family difficulties, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and confidence issues.
My first session
Before we have our first therapy session, I will arrange for an initial consultation at your convenience. This is a great opportunity for us to discuss your needs in more detail, assess whether my approach is the best fit for you, and if not look at signposting to better assist your needs.
The initial consultation is FREE and takes around 15-20 minutes.
REGULAR COUNSELLING SESSION
This is your time with me to explore anything that is concerning you or weighing you down. You can share anything you feel needs your immediate attention. I can help you explore your feelings and thoughts around any issues in order to process and find your own ways to cope and manage better. You will gradually become more self-aware and confident in yourself to make informed decisions.
