Features
Availability
Because I work with children and young people, I tend to follow school term dates and holidays, with some flexibility according to what level of support the individual needs.
Practice description
I have a private practice working The Practice in Weybridge.
I'm also available to work in schools as a peripatetic counsellor.
My first session
The first contact will usually be between me and a parent or carer, so that I can take down more details and understand their concerns.
After that, we can arrange a 'taster session' for me and the young person which gives us both a chance to see what it might be like working together. In this meeting, I might ask questions so that I can start to know them and maybe what's been troubling them and depending on their age, we might play or do a creative activity together. More importantly, I'll be there to listen and take in whatever they're ready to communicate.
After this first meeting, I'll provide some feedback as to how I thought it went and perhaps make some recommendations for next steps. There's no obligation to continue with counselling afterwards if the young person decides it's not what they want.
