I am currently only available for Phone Counselling at the present time and can also offer a home visit if required. Phone counselling can work really well and can also be more flexible. I began this during covid and it was very effective so I am continuing to offer this at a reduced fee also for the time being.
Sessions are for 50 mins to 1 hour in duration. For phone counselling 30 minute sessions are also available once the client/counsellor relationship has been established.
About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for choosing to read my profile. Let me tell you a little about what I can help with. Anxiety, bereavement and addiction are fields I have great experience of and have also worked in local schools providing support to young people who self harm.
To make the first step in finding a suitable counsellor is huge, to make initial contact is immense but the relief when these steps are overcome is even greater. There is no shame in asking for help. Sometimes an impartial ear is needed, a person far removed from friends and family, who can give you the time and space to help you work through your own problems and support you in finding your own answers.
I am an integrative counsellor which means that I can incorporate a variety of techniques into my work with clients. If you feel you are not good at talking or feel awkward then please do not let that you prevent you from getting support. I can help you by creating a place of safety, and a relationship that is non-judgemental, I can help you to work through your difficult issues and traumas.
My approach is to be empathic, respectful and treat people with sensitivity and dignity. We can work together to help you make sense of your thoughts and feeling and help you find ways to increase self awareness and emotional wellbeing.

These are strong statements from clients who have really benefitted from our work together. Counselling is not for everybody, however, but it is certainly worth giving it a try.
My practice incorporates many techniques including person centred counselling, a pure talking and listening therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy which looks at how thoughts can affect feeling which then can affect behaviour. Over the years I have gained many other skills and useful tools which have greatly helped clients.
Counselling involves work and commitment from the client. 'what you put in is what you get out' so please bear this in mind if you want things to change and yourself to be able to manage emotions better. Attend therapy because you feel you need to and not because somebody else thinks you should.
My first session
Every client is individual and the first session will be to assess client needs and get a sense of what may benefit the client and of course to find out what brings the client to therapy in the first place together with their expectations. There is no pressure to talk or open up at all about personal issues straight away. I work with what is in the best interest of the client at all times.
