About me and my therapy practice
Mental and emotional health is just as important as physical health, and therapy is a unique and liberating process. I facilitate clients to look at themselves and their life situations actively and to develop the skills to overcome challenges and achieve a more fulfilling, healthier, and happier life.
My psychology and psychotherapy career started 12 years ago when I was a medical anthropologist. I like to work with people, and find rewarding helping people to achieve wellbeing and a more fulfilling life.
I am a HCPC registered psychologist and psychotherapist. I hold MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology, a MA in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a MA in Integrative Arts in Therapy, a MA in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for the Public Health Service, and a foundation in Open Dialogue. I am also an anthropologist and hold a PhD in Social Anthropology and a MSc in Medical Anthropology.
I am originally from Italy, and have lived most of my adult life abroad (Germany, UK, the West Indies, and Spain). Hence, I have personally witnessed the many challenges that expats may face along their journey.
As a multilingual psychologist and psychotherapist, I provide individual and couple therapy to those dealing with challenging life experiences and those who want to improve their wellbeing.
My stance is collaborative and non-judgmental; I work with clients with dedication and empathy to understand the root cause of their struggles and address those issues with long-lasting support.
My primary modality is psychodynamic, which I integrate with a CBT approach. I understand no two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to clients. I facilitate sessions in English, Italian and Spanish.
My first session
During the first session, we will talk in-depth about what your goals and expectations are, and how frequently and consistently the sessions will be. I will give you an estimate of how the therapeutic process will be based on your specific circumstances, issues, and goals.
People have many different motivations for coming to psychotherapy and knowing if therapy is right for you can take some time and some self-reflection. Some people begin to feel better as soon as they make their appointment or at the time of their first session, and others may take longer. You can feel a sense of relief, sometimes just after the first session, because you make the commitment to address an issue that is problematic.
