About me and my therapy practice
We seek counselling when we are faced with the many different and difficult problems that life can throw at us. When these difficulties occur, it's useful to have a confidential and non-judgemental space where we feel safe enough to explore what's going on.
And this is exactly what I provide for my clients.
I'm approachable, friendly and understanding. The types of problems that I work with include anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, relationship problems and more - listed below. Often we don't quite know what it is that's bothering us - maybe we feel sad, or unfulfilled.
Counselling can give you a chance to work through your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to the point where you have a greater understanding of self.
My background is within the veterinary industry where I have extensive experience in supporting veterinary surgeons, nurses and students.
I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol rehabilitation, as well as more general counselling.
I practice from my home, in Potters Bar, where I have a designated therapy room at the front of the house.
There is plenty of parking with no restrictions.
My first session
The first session will usually be followed by an inital conversation on the phone. However, this is not compulsory, so if you'd prefer to just meet, that's fine.
The benefit of having a chat on the phone, prior to meeting, is for you to get some idea of what I'm like, and for me to do the same.
I believe that one of the most important criteria for you to consider, when selecting a counsellor, is the connection you both have.
The sort of question to ask yourself may be: 'Is this someone I feel understands me, doesn't judge me and can I see myself 'opening-up' to them?'
This can begin to be establised in that inital phone call. We would also discuss the first session, what to expect, timings, payment, boundaries etc.
