About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Emily, a qualified counsellor and therapist with 10 years experience. I work online and use a ‘Person-Centred’ approach, which means sessions focus on what will help clients, supporting them to find their own solutions and better understand themselves. I know how daunting it can be to ask for help, and how confusing and overwhelming it can be to find the right help. If you have made it this far, then you have taken the first brave step towards changing your story.

Practice description

I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental style of counselling; it is important to me that my clients feel safe, valued and understood. My practice is Trauma Informed, which means I am always aware that the traumas we have experience in life impact our everyday lives.

As a therapist I have experience working with a huge range of life’s challenges, from depression and anxiety to substance abuse and grief. Whether you are looking for a space to unpick a new problem or for support to process the past, I am open and available to your story and experience. Whatever you bring to therapy is unlikely to shock me!

Over my years of practice, I have developed areas of specialist interest where I have gained in-depth knowledge and experience; working with women and AFAB who are impacted by reproductive health and Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (PMDD). For more information about how I work, or my specialisms please check out my website.

My first session

I start by offering you a free 15 minute call where we can learn a little bit about each other and see if might be a good fit.

From there we would have an initial 30 minute session where we will go in to a little bit more detail. I will explain about how I work as a therapist and I open the space to talk more about what has led you to seek therapy.

I encourage questions and am really open to hearing what works best for you. I will also explain briefly my Therapy Contract and payments.

If from here we feel we would work well together we can book in first 50 minute session where we start to think about the things that have brought you to therapy.
