About me and my therapy practice
Work with me online or in Launceston, Cornwall.
Are you depressed, anxious, or simply fed up and wanting more from life? It really is possible to overcome the emotional or mental health issues that are getting in your way.
We're all different and no single therapy works for everyone. That's why I'm trained to integrate the most helpful techniques from different therapeutic models and use the ones that you find useful.
By blending person-centred counselling with gestalt, transpersonal and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), my clients benefit from a unique experience tailored to them and their goals.
Rewind Trauma Therapy for PTSD quickly stops flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive thoughts without having to talk about them.
I aim to be a safe person for members of marginalised groups, and have particular familiarity with the home educating, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities. I am here to affirm your lived experience.
I'm a cancer survivor and work with clients who have survived life-threatening illnesses and accidents. Near-death experiences can change people's perspectives on life and leave them in search of new answers, aims and sources of meaning.
I also work with people who have tried self-help and read about psychology but need some extra support to put knowledge into practice and apply it to their lives.
Counselling students undertaking personal therapy are very welcome.
Practice description
I am trained in the Connections Model which views people as being made up of at least four parts: Mind, body, soul and emotions. At the heart of this is the relationship between client and counsellor which provides a safe environment for exploration.
It's common to hear people saying their heart says one thing but their head says another. The different parts of us often want different things and we may learn to reject or supress the bits we don't want to hear. By listening to all of them, bringing them into our awareness, and accepting ourselves as we are, we can reconnect with all our parts and open up the choice to make a change.
My first session
I offer a free phone call or video call lasting up to 30 minutes, with no obligation to proceed on either side. This gives you the chance to ask any questions and check that you're comfortable talking to me before taking a leap into counselling. I will explain a bit about how I work, and check that your issue is something I believe I can help with.
If you decide you would like to proceed then sessions are £40 for 60 minutes. You can choose to have these online or in-person, or a mixture of the two.
Sessions are generally held weekly but I am open to clients who would prefer a different frequency.
During the first session we'll talk about your background and what you hope to gain from counselling. If you're someone who likes to work towards goals then we can set these. Counselling is about you, so you choose what pace you'd like to go at and whether you want to try creative methods or prefer to simply talk.
