About me and my therapy practice

NOTE: NO CURRENT AVAILABILITY FOR NEW PRIVATE CLIENTS

Welcome to my Therapist profile.  I have worked in the field of Counselling and Psychological Therapies since qualifying in 1998. In Counselling and Therapy I work with clients using an integrative model, including Rational Emotive Brief Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I am also an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Psychotherapist, Accredited by EMDR UK Association as an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. I began my therapy career working in the private sector at Woodbourne Priory Hospital in Edgbaston, providing therapy to individuals and large groups, both in Group Therapy and with families. A large component of that work was provision of Psychological Education. I then worked within two private sector Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) companies, clinically providing therapy to clients, and managerially, including liaising between EAP provider companies and customer organisations, a component of which included Post Incident Support in various forms, including Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Debriefing (CISD). For 15 years, until recently, I continued my career working in the public sector, within the NHS, providing counselling and therapy, and as Manager and Professional Head of a large, well established and recognised NHS Staff Counselling Service, providing counselling, therapy, Post Incident Support, management support and consultation, and support to NHS staff, in a complex and demanding workplace with accountability to both the NHS and the Ministry of Justice. I have recently taken up a solely therapy position with the HSE. These diverse working experiences have influenced how I work with people and therapeutically assist with a range of issues, personal and professional, unwanted or not yet understood thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
