About me and my therapy practice
I am a widely experienced counsellor and supervisor working with individuals and couples. I have been in private practice since 2002, and also worked within different settings in the charitable sector. At times we can feel overwhelmed by our circumstances and feelings, but find it difficult to know how to acknowledge these and talk about them. I would welcome meeting with you and I offer a confidential, accepting and non-judgemental environment where you can safely talk about these things and gain for yourself insight, understanding, and ways forward. It may be that experiences from the past are impacting you in the present and these too can be safely explored. Counselling is set at a pace to suit each individual client and and therefore I work long and short term; I also have experience of working in time limited settings.
I practise from a comfortable, ground floor designated room adjoining my own property. For those who are unable to access counselling externally, whether it be due to age, illness or disability I offer counselling in their own home as well as telephone or online video counselling.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor I work from different models of counselling including person centred, CBT, psychodynamic and creative ways of working. This means that the counselling offered is client led and together we can explore what is most helpful for you as you seek to work through the particular issues and emotions you want to address. I also hold an advanced certificate in Relationship Therapy. So many different events and circumstances can impact a relationship and I offer a space where thoughts and feelings can be communicated and understood in a safe non-judgemental way. This can open up ways forward of achieving what you would want for your relationship.
My first session
Our first session together is an opportunity for us to meet and to explore what you are experiencing that has prompted you to seek out counselling at this particular time. This session also enables me to gather some background context as well as what is happening for you in the present. It is also a time to begin to get to know each other - a time when you can ask questions and I can explain how we might work together going forward. It is also important for you to discover whether you feel comfortable working with me. I appreciate that a first step to see a counsellor can be anxiety provoking and feel quite scary and I want to assure you that I aim to provide a safe comfortable environment where it is possible for you to share doubts and fears, as well as to express hopes and expectations of what you would like to gain from sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor and supervisor and hold a Level 7 Post Grad Cert. in Counselling Supervision; University College Plymouth, St Mark and St John; 2010. I offer one to one supervision for trainees, newly qualified and experienced counsellors. I primarily work face to face and online, although by telephone is a possibility. I work integratively as a counsellor with both individuals and couples, incorporating person centred, CBT, relational and creative therapies, and this is reflected in my supervision practice. I offer all prospective supervisees an initial free session, so that together we can explore the possibility of working together. I offer a supportive environment and use as a foundation Page and Woskett's cyclical model.
