About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, a member of UKCP and BACP and with many years experience working with both NHS clients and private clients.

Confidentially, in a safe place, clients can work to resolve past conflicts and traumas, or explore issues current in their everyday lives.  It can be an immense relief for clients to feel able to share things about which they have never spoken before.

Using biofeedback methods, such as breathing exercises,  I support my clients in recognising where their stress lies and where it came from.

About me and my therapy practice

I work as an Integretive Therapist and Supervisor.  I have experience of working in two psychotherapy and counselling units within the NHS, using both counselling and longer term psychotherapy.  My work is person-centred and confidential.  In a warm and harmonious environment I am always very attentive to the body/mind connection, and how stress affects breathing and emotions.

I have also worked as in-house therapist in a London based infertility clinic.

Having worked initially as a nurse I gained an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, later obtaining Certification as a Supervisor and then an MSc in Addiction Counselling from Greenwich University.

Practice description

As an integrative counsellor my practice is person-centred with a strong body/mind element.

It is my belief that the "body knows the score" and carries within it the accumulated traumas and stresses that the client has gathered up during his or her lifetime.

I am very attentive to the client's way of being and tailor my therapy to what I perceive is going on for the client, whilst checking with the client that I am in the right zone.

Over the years I have become very efficient at helping my clients to overcome stress and my clients are usually feeling significantly better by their second session.

Although I am now doing telephone-counselling, I find that this is still true.

I have amended my fee to take into account that this is not face-to face counselling.

My first session

The first session is a practical one.  I have a cient intake form and in this initial meeting I gather up basic information about parents, brothers and sisters, basically a brief history.  This makes it much easier to proceed in the second half of the session to what is the problem the client is seeking help with.
