About me and my therapy practice

Many of us have times in our lives when we feel low or are worried and anxious and find it hard to cope with everyday life or specific difficult situations which confront us.  At times like these it can be helpful to get some professional support to help us understand our situation and to explore the changes we can make that will help help us to live happier, more satisfying lives.

My aim is to to help us build a trusting relationship based on openness and honesty where you feel able to talk about anything that is troubling you.  I will endeavour to be a warm, sensitive and respectful companion as you explore your difficulties and I will support you in gaining understanding of your issues and finding solutions to your problems that reflect your individuality and uniqueness.

I am experienced in working with specific issues within a limited number of sessions.  Equally I provide longer term counselling where the issues are more complex or deep-rooted.

I have over 20 years experience of providing therapy and I am qualified to Masters Degree level.  I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

Practice description

I also have use of a ground floor room, should you have difficulty climbing stairs.

Due to current COVID restrictions I am only working with clients by phone or online at this time.

About me and my therapy practice

I provide supervision for experienced and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists either individually or in groups.  I regard supervision as a collegial activity and I see it as my role to trust the supervisee's process and respect their autonomy.  As well as my experience as a counsellor and supervisor, I bring patience, acceptance, a non-judgemental attitude and facilitative enquiry to supervision sessions.

My approach to the process of supervision is Person-Centred which I feel encourages a mutual and appreciative relationship between myself and supervisees, whatever their theoretical orientation.

I am mindful of the fact that BACP guidance in their Ethical Framework states that supervision should be much more than case management.  I therefore encourage supervisees to use supervision as an opportunity to reflect in depth about all aspects of their practice.

I have over 10 years experience supervising, both in a Higher Education establishment and in my own private practice and I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Supervision.
