About me and my therapy practice
We all encounter ups and downs in our lives, and most of the time we are able to overcome them, and sometimes we may need a helping hand. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by emotions that are difficult to comprehend, gaining a deeper insight through exploration may help in managing those feelings.
I can offer a safe and non-judgemental space to delve into what is going on for you. I can help with general feelings of anxiety, depression, and bereavement. Or if you’re not quite sure what exactly you are feeling, yet there is a sense that you could be feeling better than you do. I work with people that have experienced and are affected by past trauma, imposter syndrome, self-esteem issues, and a sense of being stuck in their lives.
I aspire to work in a culturally inclusive way. To do so, I offer a space for a discussion of your socio-political background. This opens up a conversation about how your cultural background may have shaped some of your life’s experiences. Understanding how these have affected you along the way may be surprising and empowering all at the same time, and I am interested in hearing your story!
My approach to therapy is grounded within the dialogue between the psychodynamic and person-centred theories. The psychodynamic theory emphasises the importance of our past and how we are shaped by our personal histories from the beginnings of life right through to the present day. On the other hand, the focus of the person-centred theory is on helping you to reach your full potential through the experience of an authentic and accepting therapeutic relationship with your counsellor, in the here and now. Counselling and psychotherapy can help with gaining a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and finding your own solutions to problems.
