About me and my therapy practice

Previously being a businessman involved in RetaiI Management and House Building I have been a practising counsellor for over a decade. I feel that this history gives me a grounding in problem solving and practicality that flavours my work with an awareness of the challenges of living in the real world.

I have trained to Diploma level in Person Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also have training in, or exposure to, a number of other models, including but not limited to, Body Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Gestalt Therapy.

I believe this gives me a good selection of models from which we can find an approach that works best for you.

I am comfortable working with most issues, Anxiety, Depression, Personality disorders, Relationship issues, Psychosocial issues, Sexuality, Loss, Grief, Incurable illness, PTSD, etcetera.

I have a special interest in Sudden Onset Disability, and it's effects on not only the injured but on their support network and immediate family.

I practice in the brief (targeted) model which means generally 6 to 8 sessions. Being in private practice I am able to offer longer term support where required.
