I am a certified Telephone and Online counsellor and have seen most of my clients in an online setting over the past year.
I also have a private therapy room in Longtown, North Cumbria. The hours there are flexible. I am available between 9am and 6pm.
About me and my therapy practice
If you are reading this, chances are that you are in a place and time in your life where you are searching for some support. This can be a daunting moment and it requires a little brave-heartedness to acknowledge this and to take the next step.
I am a trained Integrative counsellor and member of the BACP. I am also a certified Online and Telephone Counsellor.
What can counselling do for me and will it be of help for my particular situation?
Big question and no one answer that would fit all. Experience has taught me that allowing oneself to get/be in touch with one's feelings and emotions, reactions and thoughts in a honest and realistic way, is a crucial step for an inner process to take place. The times when we experience life more painfully is a good time to engage on this path of getting to know oneself a bit better, so that one's resilience and happiness can grow.
The counselling relationship can be a powerful tool to facilitate that inner growth to happen.
How to get started?
Start by messaging me or give me a call. If you decide that you would like to give it a go, we will meet (online, telephone or face to face) for a first session. In the first session we will get to know each other a bit and you can decide if you would like to work with me. The first 20min long session is free. I will have to ask you to contribute to the cost of renting the room though!
If you feel comfortable to work with me we will set up regular sessions once a week or fortnightly. I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, challenges and emotions. This space will help you to find your own understanding of what is going on for you. The aim of my work is for you to find, or reconnect with your own innate resilience and refresh resourcefulness, through finding meaning in a difficult time.
A lot of my work is done online now.
Online counselling is an attractive option. You don't have to travel and don't have to spend time doing so. It is an easy and safe way to connect and when you get used to the screen face-to- face time, it is an effective way to engage in therapy.
I offer telphone or video calls via zoom. This is a secure and easy to use platform and it works on all devices without the need to download software.
If you are interested in working with me in this way and if you have any questions at all, please do get in touch and we can discuss your options.
With the easing of restrictions, I have been able to re-open my doors in Longtown for Face2Face work.
Please be aware that the room incurrs additional £5 on top of my fee. This is a percentage of room rent.
My first session
I offer a free initial session of 20min.
I do this because I know how challenging it can be to find the counsellor-person that is right for you. It also allows me to see if my skill set is right for what you bring to therapy.
