About me and my therapy practice
My style of therapy is warm, compassionate and down to earth. We all have times in our lives when we need some support. Whether you are looking to resolve a specific problem, or a more complex and deep-seated emotional issue, I offer the space for you to talk confidentially and feel listened to and supported.
I am an experienced integrative transpersonal counsellor and psychotherapist and can help you to gain insight into your issues, to clarify your feelings, thoughts, and motivations, and to understand why you might find yourself repeating negative or unwanted patterns in your life. In doing so, you will become better equipped to make more conscious choices, improving the quality of your life and well-being. I have a special interest in developing your strengths and qualities and supporting you to discover the purpose and meaning of your life.
My overall training and approach is integrative, which in practice means that I draw on a range of therapeutic theories and skills, depending on what you are experiencing in your life and what you are hoping for from your sessions. My training has prepared me to work effectively with different issues, some of these include helping you to gain relief from pain, anger, guilt and shame, experience freedom from addictions, get to the root of what is causing anxiety and depression, release and heal outdated beliefs about yourself, move beyond feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness and create intimate and loving relationships.
My first session
This is an opportunity for us to learn more about each other. It will give me the opportunity to gather some detailed information on your background and what has bought you to counselling or psychotherapy. It also gives you the opportunity to get to know me and ask any questions you might have about the process of counselling and psychotherapy and to decide, before making a commitment, if you would like to work together. My hope is that from the first session you would experience it as a safe, trusting-trustworthy space and that you will have gained something, be it hope, insight or some initial nourishment.
