About me and my therapy practice

I am a Psychodynamic (also known as Psychoanalytic) Psychotherapist. Working with me means working towards understanding and making positive changes to the root cause of persistent issues you have been dealing with for a long time but keep coming up despite your efforts to overcome them.

Most people in need of psychotherapy seek help only after experiencing difficulties for a long time. This means many problems may have become part of your daily life. I specialise in deep-seated issues, trauma and personality, in other words, issues that can manifest in:

- Constant anxiety, worry, exhaustion: Feeling demotivated due to your ongoing low self-esteem, self-regard, and self-confidence, leaving you feeling hopeless that things can’t get better.

- Difficulties in forming and maintaining positive relationships: Being unable to regulate your emotions, resulting in regretful behaviour, feeling desperate to retain connections, letting your personal boundaries become blurry, and feeling taken advantage of.

- Feelings of anxiety around others: always having your guard up and struggling to form deep connections while still yearning for intimacy.

- Intrusive Negative Thinking: This pattern of constant self-doubt might have led you to undersell yourself in professional or academic environments and even in social circles. You may be putting in longer hours at work, leading to exhaustion and resentment. You may have even discouraged yourself from applying for a relevant promotion or have never asked for a pay raise that honours your capacities.

- Lack of assertiveness and recurring avoidance, forgetfulness and lack of focus: Sometimes, feeling like your body is preparing to take flight without any apparent reason. Fear that something is going to go wrong, a feeling that is constant and that never seems to go away—repeated nightmares linked to complex and difficult past experiences.

Practice description

All my work starts with an initial session where I'll ask questions to clarify your situation, current circumstances, struggles, and goals for therapy. We'll also take some time to reflect on our chemistry as a psychotherapy team, and you will have the opportunity to see how you feel about working this way and whether it's the right fit for you.

During subsequent sessions, I will focus on learning more about your life to understand your current context. During the initial stages, I'll ask you many questions, and this process of learning about you could take a few sessions, depending on the pace; it is all part and parcel of psychotherapy.

After the initial stages of psychotherapy, you will have much more room to bring whatever comes to your mind. I will focus on trying to understand you while paying attention to the unconscious processes that emerge.

In therapy with me, it's essential that you try to say everything - as freely as possible - about your life, wishes, dreams and fantasies, including any negative reactions you have to me or the therapy itself. Sometimes, I might draw your attention to the primary goals so that the work stays focused.

We will work together to ease some of the difficulties you have been struggling with and to enhance your overall quality of life.

My first session

All my psychotherapeutic work starts with the initial session, that first step. All sessions are 50 minutes long, and the initial stages of psychotherapy might feel different than when the work is being developed, as they are the first steps to getting to know you.

All my sessions are paid; I can sometimes offer sensible fee adjustments for ongoing work. This is something that can be discussed during the initial stages.

I am happy to provide a brief, 5-minute introductory call if you have any queries regarding the psychotherapy process, timings, location, approach and fees. However, it is important to keep in mind that these introductory calls are not meant to substitute an initial. Allon, all information related to details about you and the challenges you face will be discussed during the initial appointment.
