Our accredited member to senior accredited member route 1: Streamlined route is for accredited members who have completed a BACP accredited or approved progression training course aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework, since their initial accreditation.
Progression courses aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework are not yet running, but we’re working with training providers, and we expect the first graduates from a BACP accredited or approved progression training course aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework to be in 2027 to 2028. We’ll open applications for this route at that time.

If you’re successful in your application you’ll be able to use the designatory letters ‘Registered Member MBACP (Snr Accred)’ and promote yourself as aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework, alongside the other benefits of senior accreditation.
You’ll be required to demonstrate training, CPD, client hours, personal development, supervision and reflective practice. Your supervisor will need to provide you with a supervisor’s statement.
Eligibility criteria overview
To apply you’ll need to:
- be an accredited member of BACP
- be practising as a counsellor and or psychotherapist. You must have been in practice for at least four years when you apply for senior accreditation
- have successfully completed and received an award from a BACP accredited or approved column C progression training course or qualification, since your initial accreditation
- have completed a minimum of 50 hours of supervised counsellor or psychotherapist practice since your initial accreditation
- have completed 160 hours of personal therapy or personal development work that has contributed to self-awareness and is applicable to therapeutic practice
- have an ongoing current contract for counselling or psychotherapy supervision for a minimum of 1.5 hours per month
- have been supervised for at least 1.5 hours per month throughout the period of practice submitted
How to apply
Applications for this senior accreditation route will open when the first graduates have completed a BACP accredited or approved progression course (aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework). We expect this will be in 2027 to 2028.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll need to complete the application form which include reflective practice criteria to enable you to demonstrate BACP’s standards for senior accreditation.

- details of your training with copies of any relevant award certificates
- details of your practice, personal development and supervision
- reflective practice criteria
- supervisor’s statement

The cost to apply for senior accreditation using registered to senior accredited route 1: Streamlined route is £80.
